CTM participates in improving the vehicle crash resistance through the European Project Tough-Sheet

The Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic celebrated the kick off meeting of the European project "Tough-Sheet". The main objective of this project is to develop an experimental methodology to determine the fracture toughness of high strength steel (AHSS) sheets, aimed at optimizing their formability and crash worthiness. This project will allow to produce safer automotive components with improved crash resistance.

Four companies from three different countries are involved: steelmaker Voestalpine from Austria, Centro Ricerche Fiat from Italy, Idiada Automotive Technology from Spain and Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic. The project, with a budget of 1.7 million euros, will last 3 years and is funded by the European Union under the RFCS program.
