MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY: FAILURE ANALYSES
The failure analyses are mainly carried out on metallic and ceramic materials. The main fields of work are:
- Corrosion
- Fracture
- Wear
- Welding
In order to carry out this kind of analyses the centre counts with:
- Optical, electronic and confocal microscopes.
- Cameras for carrying out accelerated corrosion tests (Saline fog and Kesternich)
- Tribometers: pin-on disc, ball-on-disc, scratch textile and with oscillating movement.
- Units for the study of wear by abrasive particles and for carrying out linear and microabrasion tests.
