The objective of CTM´s Bioengineering division, which specialises on Biomechanics and Biomaterials, is to propose and develop innovation projects which represent an improvement in the quality of life of the citizens.
It starts from the real needs of the different entities which take part in health: patient, health professionals, company, state, etc; and from all this it generates and carries out projects for technological transfer.
The mission of the Bioengineering division is:
- To give support to companies and institutions from the health sector so as to carry out innovation projects.
- To design medical devices which involve an important improvement on the quality of life of the user and/or of the competitiveness of the industry.
The main activities of the Bioengineering division are:
- Study and optimisation of biomaterials
- In collaboration with CTM´s area of Materials, this division develops superficial treatments for implants according to their specific working needs.
- In collaboration with CTM´s area of Design and simulation, this division deals with the study and simulation of the behaviour of the different tissues of the human body (bones, cartilages, etc)
- Design of medical devices.
- Development of products and/or processes related with technical aids.
