The Kick Off Meeting of the “Water and Energy for Life in Libya” WELL project (FP7-INCO-2011-6), took place on the 12th and 13th of July in Brussels. The Meeting has been organized during the event “Governance, Human capital and RDI management skills: accompanying success stories in the Mediterranean research centers” organized by the European Commission from July 9th to 12th in Brussels. The event has involved all the ERA WIDE participants from the Mediterranean Countries.

The WELL project represents the first involvement of a Libyan partners in a European project.

Together with the project coordinator, Prof. Salem Rashrash General Director of the Libyan General Water Authority GWA, representatives of all the consortium partners participated in the meeting: Fundación CIRCE, REDINN and Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic.

During the meeting, the importance of the technology transfer and the capacity building for the Libyan partners was underlined as well as the fact that the project does not carry out speculative research but it is aimed at providing concrete help to the people living in Libya. Prof. Salem Rashrash emphasized the special and unique characteristics and needs of the Lybian stakeholders (also in comparison with neighbouring countries) due to the fact of the recent civil war occurred and the needs linked with the reconstruction.

As WELL consortium pointed out, the involvement of Libya in a project related with water and energy could offer an important added value for the research in the whole Mediterranean Area

CTM´s scientific article written by Thomas, A., El-Wahabi, M., Cabrera, J.M., Prado, J.M. called "High temperature deformation of Inconel 718" that was published in the magazine "Journal of materials Processing Technology" Volume 177, Issue 1-2 (2006), pages 469-472 has been recognised by Elsevier as one of the most mentioned articles between the years 2005 and 2010.

The Fundación Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic informs that the bill of technical clauses has been published for hiring through an open standard procedure the following services: drafting of the basic and executive project; drafting and follow up of the project for environmental license, building work management and building work execution; drafting and follow up of the quality control program; drafting of the study on safety and health and safety and health coordination in the execution phase of the building works of the new headquarters of the Fundación Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic ( CTM ) cofinanced by the FEDER funds.
