ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY: DEMETER
Is the CENIT project lead by Bodegas Torres and coordinated by CTM. The project focuses on the study of new wine making processes so as to adapt the industry to climatic change. If there is an industry seriously threatened by climatic change it is that of wine making. For this reason, Bodegas Torres leads a CENIT project which focuses on the development of technologies which will make it possible to adapt wine better to the possible changes as well as to mitigate the impact of this industry on the environment.
This project will study not only the purely genetic components of grapes which will allow their adaptation to a changing climate but also the reuse of water and wastes generated during the wine making process by reducing the impact of this kind of industry. The team of the area of environmental technology lead by Dr. Miquel Rovira will work on the study of the reuse of water and wastes which come from the wine making process; the membrane technologies developed in CTM will be of vital importance.
