Projects for the implementation of our own methodologies

As a result of the willingness for moving forwards and giving companies high added value support from its different fields of knowledge, the Area of Support to Innovation counts with a list of self-developed methodologies. These methodologies have been developed within the frame of different programmes financed by the administration and have been implemented and tested at first stage in a number of companies so as to be validated.

At present, these methodologies are part of a portfolio of self-developed methodologies which can be implemented with the advice of the technical staff of the Area, in the frame of a project, in any kind of company regardless of its sector or size.

Next, we present a list with a description of these methodologies.

  • INNOVACIÓN GLOBAL: Is a project which proposes the implementation of a software platform with a modular structure of global management. The function of this platform is the systematisation and optimisation of the process for obtaining information from the different management systems of the company and from the resources used in this process. The implementation of this tool means an improvement of the flow of information between the different management systems minimising the resources used in the transmission of information and the risks of losing it. With this tool companies will have firstly, a guide for the implementation of R+D/IT and technological surveillance management systems and also for the execution of R+D/IT projects; secondly, it will achieve an optimum and efficient management of its R+D/IT and of technological surveillance management systems as well as of their R+D/IT projects.

    The main advantages are the following:
    • Implementation, easy and structured management of the management systems.
    • Improves the flow and filing of information.
    • Facilitates the creation and subsequent management of the R+D/IT department.
    • Provides the company with a technological surveillance system.
    • Guides the company in the management of its R+D/IT projects.


  • ECOINNOVA: Is a Project in the field of eco design for the design of industrial products where environment is taken into account at the moment of making decisions during the development process of products as an additional factor to the ones which have traditionally been considered (costs, quality, safety, ergonomics…). The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the product throughout its life cycle, from the obtaining of raw materials and components to its elimination once it has been rejected.

    This tool has the aim of promoting the development of the management of ecodesign so as to improve competitiveness and to increase the innovation factor of companies. Ecodesign is a new methodology for the design of industrial products in which environment is taken into account at the moment of making decisions in the development process of products as an additional factor to the ones which have traditionally been considered (costs, quality, safety, ergonomics, …). The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the product throughout its life cycle. So as to achieve the objectives of this project, from Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic we have designed and developed a software support tool for ecodesign projects. Its implementation follows regulation UNE 150301:2003 of environmental management of the process of design and development - Ecodesign.

  • AMBIGEST: Is a Project with the objective of improving the environmental management of companies through the monitoring and computerising of their activities and environmental processes through a computer application. With this application companies will be able to collect, organise and control the data, documents and activities of a whole environmental management.

    This tool has the objective of improving the environmental management of companies by monitoring and computerising its activities and environmental processes through a computer application. With this aim, Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic has created and developed an application software by means of which the company will be able to collect, organise and control all the data, documents and activities of a system of environmental management. This application software follows regulation NORMA-UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2004. Among other advantages, we should mention:
    • Improvement of the environmental management of the company and of the performance of its activity.
    • Cost savings in the short/long term through the control and reduction of raw materials, energy, water, wastes, etc.
    • Image improvement and marketing possibilities.


  • APLINNOVA: The objective of this application based on ICT is to strengthen the development of tools which allow SMEs to facilitate the implementation and improvement of innovation management systems and projects associated with R&D and innovation activities. It will allow the coordination and control of the group of activities which make up an R&D&TI project with the objective of achieving the requirements established in each of the phases of the project to obtain a successful final outcome. This methodology also aims to facilitate the creation and later management of the R+D+I department of the SMEs.

  • ECOTEC: This tool allows the automatic safety evaluation of a machine with a view to fulfilling the applicable legislation (machine directives 98/37/CE, 73/23/CEE low tension, 89/336/CEE electro-magnetic compatibility, 94/9/CE ATEX) with two basic aims: to carry out the CE marking through a standardised method and be able to control the technical records of the machines.

    With this tool unnecessary costs can be avoided through the validation of prototypes during the design phase; we have access to the documentation; we control versions and plans; it facilitates the realisation of new machines built from modifications of other machines and it integrates in the design process of regulation UNE-EN ISO 9001:2000.

  • ECOTEC-ATEX: Through a pre-established method, this computer application allows the automatic evaluation of the safety of new machines (new designs) for their use in potentially explosive atmospheres, the prevention of suitable protections and the improvement of the design process taking into account the essential requirements of Directive 94/9/CE on devices and protection systems for being used in potentially explosive atmospheres.

    This is an innovative tool in the market which is addressed to companies that design and manufacture machines to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. With this tool they will be able to evaluate the risks of explosion and easily manage, preserve and access all the legal documentation along the lifespan of the machine.

  • OPTIMNOVA: This methodology aims to provide a solution to the problems which come from the high costs of the management of the streams of waste from various productive sectors associated with hazard and with the production of large volumes; which at the same time mean an important waste of resources. OPTIMNOVA is a practical and effective management tool for SMEs to increase, based on objectives, their competitiveness through an optimal use of the resources. This tool is based on the principle that industrial processes are interactive systems and not isolated parts, considering waste as a resource and, as such, generators of business opportunities.

  • INNOVATEX: The aim of this method is to identify, analyse and structure innovation projects for textile companies so they can either be carried out or presented for possible calls for financing. The IT application APLINNOVATEX is implemented as an element of support, which makes it easier for the company to fulfil the objectives set and to manage the innovation systems and innovation projects themselves.

  • INNOVAPLUS: Considering technology as the base for the creation of products with high added value, the InnovaPlus methodology is based on the knowledge of the technology available and the personal abilities and on the detection of the future necessities of the market for the creation and promotion of products directly from the company.

  • UNILOGIC: Unilógic is a methodology of our own for the management of integrated models. It is a model for the management of integrated systems designed for simplifying the management of quality together with the environmental management and risk prevention security. It is also suitable for the integration with other systems such as the management of innovation.

  • PROINNOVA: The PROINNOVA method gives companies their own made to measure innovation management system, for the management of innovation; it allows them to innovate in a way which is organised, natural, agile and effective. The method is of application to both processes and products and encourages companies to create their own products. The method tries to focus the innovative activities on the working processes known by the company in order to facilitate the application of good practice, which every innovation process requires. It encompasses both the system for the management of innovation and the system for the management of innovation projects, interspersing both aspects as required.

  • FORMALDEIT: This methodology aims to facilitate companies the creation of their own Research and Development and Technological Innovation departments with forward-looking projects. The R&D&TI management systems based on regulation UNE 166002 aim to orient R&D&TI activities to the development of processes and products which anticipate the current needs and problems of companies and their clients, placing them at the forefront of the market from a technological point of view.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL RISK: An analysis and evaluation method of the environmental risk associated to companies has been created (UNE 150008).


Projects for the development of new methodologies

The Area of Support to Innovation continues working for the development of new methodologies. So as to achieve this, it previously carries out a research on the necessities of companies so as to be able to evaluate new projects that will translate into new lines of action that will help the customer companies to provide a higher added value.


Projects for elaborating studies

The Area of Support to Innovation has carried out several studies in the field of innovation both for individuals and for the administration. Recently, it has carried out an important study about the Situation of Innovation in Catalonia: "Innovación y Empresas. Innovación y Centros Públicos de Investigación" (Innovation and Companies. Innovation and State Research Centres) together with Sineria Consulting, S.L by ACC1Ó CIDEM/COPCA of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan governement).


Transversal support to innovation projects
  • TAX REDUCTIONS: The Area of Support to Innovation guides companies on the subject of tax reductions of the R+D/IT activities related to the projects developed jointly with Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic.

  • CREATION OF R+D/IT DEPARTMENTS: The Area of Support to Innovation gives advice for creating and consolidating R+D/IT departments of Catalan SMEs.

  • R+D/IT MANAGEMENT: Advice on the implementation of different regulations such as UNE 166001 about the Requirements of a R+D/IT Project , UNE 166002 about the Requirements of the R+D/IT management system and UNE 166006 about the Technological Surveillance System.
