PROCESSES: NANODUCTIL
Increase in ductility of metallic materials with nanometric and ultrafine grain size at cold temperatures.
This project (financed by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología-Ministry of Science and Technology-) seeks to improve the ductility of metallic pieces with nanometric and ultrafine grain size (less than 1 µm) which are obtained through the processes of mechanical milling and severe plastic deformation (ECAE). The lack of ductility of some of these materials poses a problem for their application in industry. The project proposes several routes such as the development of bimodal grain structures which should allow these materials to increase the storage of dislocations and therefore increase homogeneous deformation.
