ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY: SOSTCO2
Is the CENIT Project lead by Carburos Metálicos and coordinated by CTM. The aim of the Project is to study the different CO2 capture technologies and to establish CO2emissions. If there is consensus regarding the possible causes of the changes in climate it is that these are the result of the emission of gases that produce the greenhouse effect, which increases the temperature of the planet. One such gas in particular is carbon dioxide, CO2. This project therefore seeks to develop technologies which will enable the capture and retention of the largest possible quantity of CO2. This means an important qualitative step in the technique since at present there are methods for capturing CO2 but the only use given to it is that of geological storage.
This project will study different retention alternatives such as the creation of new polymer materials, its use in processes where supe critical CO2 plays an important role, the creation of new combustibles, etc. The area of environmental technology team lead by Dr Miquel Rovira will work in the study and analysis of the life cycle of the different alternatives studied. This fundamental work of the project will be directed to guaranteeing that the capture of CO2 actually takes place.
