PROCESSES: TRIP

Development and manufacture of TRIP steels: forming and welding

TRIP is a consortium project financed by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología (Ministry of Science and Technology). Three technological centres besides CTM take part in this project. The main aim of the project is the development of a know how for the national manufacture of TRIP steels and in turn, the search for innovative solutions for the present limitations of the most common commercial qualities which are being developed abroad. For achieving this, the project proposes the following specific technical objectives:
  • Study of the relationship between the composition, conditions of the process, final microstructure and mechanic behaviour.
  • Improvement of the observation techniques for the fine characterisation of microstructures and for the quantification of the relevant microstructural parameters, taking into account that the latter determine the mechanic behaviour of steels.
  • Study/optimisation of the behaviour of TRIP steels during cold forming processes.
  • Study/optimisation of the solderability.

Companies and centres which are collaborating on the project apart from CTM: AIMEN, CEIT, ITMA
