The Area of Simulation and Innovative Design is the area of CTM which specialises in Numerical Simulation. It has the following missions:
- Give service to all the projects of the company which may need numerical simulation in different fields of engineering.

By means of its simulation tools the Area of Simulation and Innovative Design will be able to:
- Represent a very useful tool for the development of new processes, mechanisms and phenomena in the field of materials.
- Generate products of their own with high added value.
The main activities of the Area of Simulation and Innovative Design are classified into:
Simulation and Innovative Design works with commercial Simulation tools such as ABAQUS and ANSYS; it counts with experience in simulation of mechanical behaviour, static and dynamic calculation, thermal behaviour, stationary and transitory calculation, fluid dynamics, electromagnetism and multi-physical calculations. The power of simulations by the method of finite elements is applied for developing the following lines of R&D:
- Study of the Spring-Back in the cold forming of steels with high elastic limit.
- Study of the Bauschinger effect.
- Study of the magnetic induction phenomena.
- Hot Forming Processes.
- Simulation of Wear Mechanisms of forming tools.
- Simulation of the Manufacturing Process of tools for Nanocasting.
- Modelling and Simulation of the Mechanical Behaviour of elastomers.
- Study and Modelling of Vibrations in Industrial Applications and for Transport.
- Innovative Design of Tools and Machinery.
